The leadership of the SafeUT program and its community partners have announced the publication of the

The report illustrates the evolution of the program—including a newly redesigned website to increase ’s accessibility—key initiatives and partnerships, and lifesaving outcomes. It demonstrates SafeUT’s statewide impact in schools, shares best practices for keeping schools and campuses safe, and highlights user engagement trends. Additionally, the report emphasizes SafeUT’s role in supporting Utah’s frontline workers and the Utah National Guard.

“SafeUT is a revolutionary program and has played an essential role in helping keep Utah schools and communities supported and safe,” says Rachel Kay Lucynski, Director of Community Crisis Intervention & Support Services at Huntsman Mental Health Institute.

“Whether someone is struggling with bullying, has concerns about a threat they saw on social media, or is dealing with thoughts of suicide, SafeUT counselors are there day and night to offer compassionate support and immediately respond to any safety concerns. We’re grateful to partner with school districts and higher education institutions, public safety personnel, parents, legislators, and so many others who have helped SafeUT make a positive impact.”

Suicide has reemerged as the most frequently reported tip submitted to SafeUT, followed by bullying, which was last year’s top tip category, and potential threats to schools and campuses. Although SafeUT received more tips about suicide and bullying, the number of tips categorized as potential school or campus threats was the highest SafeUT has ever received about the topic, increasing by 18% from the previous year.

“SafeUT gives people a fighting chance to survive their darkest moments. Over a thousand Utahns are alive today because of SafeUT. You probably know some of them,” says Ric Cantrell, SafeUT Commission Chair.

“Thank you to the pioneers who joined forces to build this initiative, the gifted teams that make it work, and to each person who reached out when it mattered. All of our lives are richer because of you.”
